Display incomplete predecessor(s)

Ron

I've inherited a program where multiple predecessor tasks
are incomplete or unstarted, but the successors are
complete. Is there a way to display these "out of
sequence" tasks?

Thanks,

Ron,
Yes. If the successor task is complete then obviously the link to a
predecessor is no longer valid, so remove the link. Then determine if
the predecessor (incomplete) tasks are still valid, that is, should they
still be done. In a valid project plan, every task MUST have a
successor, otherwise why is the task being done. Once a valid successor
is found for the incomplete tasks, make the appropriate link and proceed
with the plan. If no valid successor can be found, either delete the
incomplete task, or for historical purposes, give the incomplete tasks
an Actual Finish to capture the amount of effort (Work) already accrued.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ron

i've been in the same situation myself and have found both the Network
diagram & the relationship diagram invaluable in the hunt for those
predecessors that should have been marked as completed but aren't. Other
than that i've not come across any filters or code to help.

Cheers
