Does Microsoft Word 2000 have the extension ".doc" at the end?

I have applied for a job but they require me to use Word ie with the ".doc"
extension. I need to purchase the appropriate software and the most
available here in France is Microsoft Word 2000 - will this be suitable?

YES!!!

But some OS hide the extensions codes (*.doc) You can switch them on via de
Windows Explorer (Windows 2000):
- Open Windows Explorer
- Tools, Folder Options,
- Tab View
- Uncheck Hide file extensions for known type
