Duplex printing multiple pages per sheet in Publisher

Hi.
I have a printer with built-in duplex printing capability. I want to
create a 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches booklet containing about 40 pages by
printing 4 pages on the front side and 4 pages on the back side of 8.5 x 11
inch paper. How can I set Publisher to automatically and properly send the
correct pages in the proper sequence to the printer so that I can cut the 8 x
11 inch paper in quarters and assemble the booklet with the right numbered
page on the front and back of each piece of paper. Thanks for your help.

Setup your publication as a booklet.

Publisher cannot setup the pages the way you want. Your best solution is to cut
your paper first. Setup your printer for a custom size, 8.5 X 5.5.
Publisher will automatically print in the correct order as well as display in
the correct order. Hopefully your printer can duplex this size of stock.
Another solution would be to create your publication on the top half of a letter
size stock and cut away the bottom half after you finish printing.

Hi Mary

I've done a lot of googling on this issue and your name keeps coming up. It
appears I can't do a mail merge involving duplex printing of 4 up postcards
with Publisher 2007.

I'm going to try in Word but am not too happy. Word does give you the option
of odd and even where Publisher does not. I will also try breaking into 2
publications and run 1 for the front pages and a second for the back pages.

I have tried every combination I know to get 2-sided postcards to print
properly. I have to setup two publications, it is the only one that works for
me. I could be overlooking something.

The only postcard setup that works consistently is the Avery templates. I have
hopes this will change when and if a service pack is offered.

Here is the issue - our printer contract is $0.10 per sheet no matter what
the sheet size. So if I print 4 up it is $0.10 per 4 or $0.025 each.

If I print 8.5 x 5.5 it is $0.10 each or 4 x the cost.

I intend to create a separate publication for the front and a separate one
for the back. I will print pub1 4 up and then flip[ the paper over and then
print pub2 4 up
