Editing colors for highlight tool.

I would like too be able to edit the color palette for the highlight button
in the tool bar in Microsoft word, any ideas?

It isn't possible. Instead, use shading (Format > Borders & Shading >
Shading, and set the Apply To box to Text if it says anything else). You can
define character styles with different colors of shading to make them easier
to apply (styles can have shortcut keys or toolbar buttons assigned to
them).
