email addresses

How can I stop all my office (2003) programs from recognizing email
addresses? I just want them to be left alone. I don't use any microsoft
internet products. It's very annoying having the dreaded outlook popup
whenever I'm just trying to edit or move and address.

Thanks

John

It worked for Word but not excel. Seems that no matter what I do in
excel it still recognizes email addresses and opens word 2003 to write a
message. I never use word for email.

I'm into tools/autocorect/smart tags and clicking and trying various
things. Nothing seems to make much of a difference.

forgot to say that excel says smart tags are no longer embedded in "
