embedding and linking in office 2003

Any time I try to enbed or link a file from excel to word
using "paste special", I either get the
message "insufficient memory" or "You don't have
permission, contact your administrator". I am using this
in my home and have gone through all the setup files I can
think of to allow all users the right to the documents. I
have plenty of ram and my memory uisage is low. Any
Idea's?
