Strange situation - I've done my best to find others with the same problem, but this looks like a strange duck, so here goes...
I'm running 10.5 with all of the updates through today, so the OS is up to date.
I have the Student and Teacher’s Edition (STE) 2008. I have exchange outsource service form Mailtrust, which has a license for the exchange enabled version of entourage (EEE for short). So, I'm trying to use STE everything but EEE from Mailtrust.
Things seem to be funky with the 12.1.0 update. I've tried every combination of removing office, removing the profile and updating various components of software one at a time, but...
If I install STE first and then 12.1.0, I can not get EEE to work – it can’t read the profile. And I can not run 12.1.0 as it says it “You cannot install Office 2008 SP1 Update (12.1.0) on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume.” a version of the software to
I can install EEE and then run the 12.1.0 update, and then install STE. But I can’t use the 12.1.0 update on the STE portion of the software then – it gets upset with another error. OK – so let’s run STE without the 12.1.0, but then it can’t read the profile. I can delete the profile, but then when I re-create a profile, I’m still incompatible between those things updated to 12.1.0 and those not. (and I really need to keep things updated with 12.1.0, so that is not a long term solution).
And I can install STE and update to 12.1.0 A-OK, but then I can install EEE, but it can then not read the profile – and obviously wants the 12.1.0 update – then the 12.1.0 update fails.
So I can get EEE up and running, or STE. But not both.
Please help! I’ve been at this for about three weeks off and on. I’m about to be an early reverse adapter. My IBM Thinkpad never looked so good. Don’t make me do it!
Thanks much,
