Entourage & Exchange

Hi all,

I have a very big problem with Entourage 2008 & Exchange 2007.

First of all, let me explain how I manage my hosted Exchange account (hosted on 123Together.com which is really great btw):

I use 1 PC running Outlook 2007 & 1 Mac running Entourage 2008 on Leopard.

It seems that whenever I create an event that contains accents such as "é" or "à" on my PC, it will sync properly to the Exchange server (it shows up on OWA and another PC if I set it up to access my Exchange account). It will however not show up on Entourage 2008.
I've even tried at a friend's who uses Entourage 2004 to set up my account and I have the same problem:
Calendar events containing accents or email messages which subject contains an accent don't show up in Entourage.

This is a very big issue as I live in France and, if I can manage not to use accents in calendar entries, I cannot make people that send me emails not use accents.

How can this be fixed ?

Hi,
I upgraded to Office 2008 when it came out, and at that time needed only the Student and Home version. Now one of my clients has asked me to use their server for an e-mail account (to ensure that their clients see me as part of the company) and so I want to upgrade Entourage to include the Exchange server options. But I can't find a way of doing this on the MS website. Is there a way? (I would rather not have to pay an upgrade price from 2004 as I already have the newest version of everything)

Regards

Steve

Security is very low in Entourage. For example, when I open Entourage one of the security features I have selected is that the serve (Hotmail .mac) email asks for my password. The problem is someone can open entourage and select cancel when ask to input my password. They can continue to select cancel the end result my messages are exposed. For example I click cancel and I click on the first message in my inbox this highlights the first message. Second, I get the input password dialog box. Next, I click cancel a second time this time the hole message is displayed. If I click cancel the third time i can click display message. So on and so on.

I have the message saying the my Entourage database is damaged and that I need to rebuild. What can be causing this as I have received this message twice and my computer is only 4 weeks old.

I'm sure you are all sick of these replies by now. But it is appalling that there is no "single component" upgrade for Office 2008. I like 1000's have been caught out by the downgrade of Entourage features in 2008 and can no longer connect to my work Exchange server. This has considerable impact for me as it does others.

I have accepted that I need to "upgrade", only to find that this is not possible, or at least it is, via an Office 2004 upgrade price that will still cost more than the original purchase... for the ONLY additional feature being exchange server capability.

This shows a lack of customer relationship. "You were notified" is a lame excuse, especially when I, like others are willing to look for a solution but that solution should not be exploitative.

Why NOT offer an Entourage only update ??

Immensely disappointed

Although this newsgroup resides on a MS server, it is a peer-to-peer group;
MS does not consider it a source of feedback.

I suggest you register your unhappiness by using the command "Send Feedback
...." on the Help menu of any Office application.

I have multiple email addresses; POP, IMAP and Exchange set up in entourage. is there an easy way to have them all show up in one inbox?

I have tried using a custom Mail View, but it just doesn't seem to work correctly

Do you have Flagged only selected? Without knowing more details on what is
not being caught by the search, I wouldn't know where to start.

Hi all...
I've this error message when i use Entourage 2008 on Exchange 2007:

An unknown error (170) occurred

I've read on some forum that the problem happen because on Exchange 2007 server are not installed the "Legacy Application".
My system administrator don't wont to install Legacy Application on exchange server. Can i connect to Exchange Server 2007 without Legacy Apllication installed on teh server ?

Thank
Alessandro

Unfortunately this can happen often if something is wrong at the system level. Try first to Repair the Permissions (use Apple Disk Utility or one of the numerous maintenance programs, such as Onyx which is free - make sure you use the right version). If that doesn't work, I found that running Disk Warrior (to rebuild the Directory) fixes the Entourage database corruption problem.

Legacy applications is required if you want to connect Entourage to
Exchange Server as an Exchange client. You have the option of connecting
via POP or IMAP if either of them is enabled on the server but you won't
get calendar and Contacts functionality.

Hope this helps!

Why is it the school's fault? Shouldn't Microsoft just allow exchange to work? Since many institutions use exchange, and it is the STUDENT edition exchange should be supported.

Not taking sides, just trying to explain what I think Microsoft is doing:

Exchange is marketed as an enterprise product. It's a business product.
Educational institutions have also adopted it, which is fine because
Microsoft makes money off that too.

However, the Home & Student version is no longer limited to those in the
educational market as was the Student & Teacher version of Office 2004.
Anyone can purchase this for personal use (but not business use).

Microsoft's licensing model is simple. Personal use costs less. Business
use costs more. If educational institutions decide to use business class
products then the business class licenses must be purchased.

Hope this helps!

I upgraded to the new Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 and now I can't use Entourage because it keeps on coming on the screen the invitation to join your stupid mail service...can I get rid of this ridiculous and unwanted service...I registered and it gives me the knowledge of it, but, nevertheless, it keeps on coming on without opening Entourage. Did I lose all of my data?
What a stupid upgrade!

Is it the Setup Assistant that is coming up? If not, could you take a
screenshot and send it to me off list?

This past Thursday, Entourage locked up and will not open e mails from web mail or regular e mails to business.

What can I do to correct the problem?

Thanks
