Error: Outlook files, access denied

T

Tim

When I open Outlook (2002, using an XP based system) I
get an error message. If I have my browser opened and
connected, the error says:
"Cannot start MS Outlook. Unable to display the selected
folder or item. File access is denied. You do not have
the permission requred to access the file C:\documents
and sett..."
If I try to open Outlook from the desk top I get a
differently worded but similar message. Seems to be a
problem with adminstrator access rights on XP. But I am
the adminstrator and I haven't changed anything. Thank
you for any help.

Go to the pst-file and see if you have Read/Write permissions on it (also
uncheck the "Read Only" file property). Also check whether the file isn't
bigger than 2GB or somewhere near that. If this still gives you problems try
running scanpst.exe on the file.
