Error pubilshing form

R

Rosemary

Hi,

When I tried to publish my form, I browsed and selected the e-mail folder I
wanted it published in.

When I went into the Properties for that folder, I selected the General tab,
and from the "When posting to this folder, use:" drop-down list, I selected
the message form I created.

But I got an error message that said "You can not create an item of this
type in this folder."

I thought I had followed the instructions for publishing, and couldn't find
any step I had missed. Could there be an access problem because of the way
our network permissions are set up?

Thanks,

Let's assume the warning message means exactly what it says. What type of form? What type of folder?

Hi -- The folder was created in my All Mail Folders, and it contains "Mail
and Post Items".

When I created the form, I chose "Message" from the Standard Forms Library
in the Design Form dialog box.

When I published it, it said it was in the IPM.Note Message Class.

Thanks,
Rosemary

This is normal behavior. Since message forms are designed to be sent, not saved in a folder, you cannot make a message form the default for a folder. If your goal is to be able to easily create new items with that form, you can launch it from the Actions menu.

I see. Thanks.

One more question please: I want to save the form in where others with
access can use it. What steps do I use to publish it? When I published it
before, it saved to my Drafts folder instead of the folder I selected during
the publish process.

Thanks,

To publish a form, use the Tools | Forms | Publish Form command. Ideally, you'd want to publish it to the Exchange server's Organizational Forms library.

Note that any new item created with a message form will save automatically to the Drafts folder unless you send the message. This is normal behavior for all messages.
