Errors with Project Server

S

Sriram Ganesan

I got some good leads earlier to start off with Project server and thanks to
people on this forum.

I am now experimenting with Project server and face some problems.

I create a project using MS Project Professional and published it to my
project server. I made myself Admin for Project Server.

1) I get "The windows user account or user name for the affected user
conflicts with an existing account on the server" mostly if I add myself as
a resource in the project plan. I made sure that there are no duplicate
entries in MSP_WEB_RESOURCES table but still I get it. Sometimes I get it
for other resources too.

2) I had a list of 7 resources assigned to various tasks and I find that
only 2 or 3 resources show up when I do "view resource assignments" from the
"Resources" tab in Project server. I have no idea why this happens. This
happens even when there is no error reported by the spooler. Also not all
tasks show up for these resources, only a few tasks show up.

3) I am not able to figure out how to automatically set the authentication
mode to Windows Authentication. When there are new resources in the project
plan being published from MS Project Professional, the authentication mode
is automatically set to Project Server authentication.

4) I also haven't figured out how to assign a few resources to a Team Lead.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sriram.

Hi Sriram,
I have no idea about Qn1 as i did not experience it before.

for Qn2) Did you have a red warning message
saying "Warning: Availability data has not been published
for one or more resources in the selected date range." ?

for Qn3) In order to setup windows authentication account,
you need to go to Manager User and Group and change to
windows authentication. The windows user account should be
your domain\username. Example, HLT\John (must be \)

for Qn4) I am not sure if this means assigning. Under
Manage Security, under resource, available rsources,
choose the resource that you would like to view
