Excel Crashes when Copying Chart

I have a user who's experiencing crashes on certain excel files, new or old when attempting to copy a chart into powerpoint.

Ctrl+V = Crash (immediate)
Edit-Copy = Crash (immediate)

I am able to drag and drop the image from excel to powerpoint and/or word. We tried recreating a basic pie-chart from simple data and the result was the same. The issue is NOT specific to her user profile.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. She is a heavy user, certainly a power-user of excel and powerpoint. I've trained all of my mac users NOT to drag and drop into powerpoint as we all know what happens when you go to play the ppt on a PC having done that ;-)

New info: This ONLY happens on new documents created with 2008. 2004 docs are fine. It ONLY seems to apply to "Pie". Every other chart, including 3d, pie in pie, etc all work fine. Just your bsic pie is the issue.

I have a user who's experiencing crashes on certain excel files, new or old when attempting to copy a chart into powerpoint.

Ctrl+V = Crash (immediate)
Edit-Copy = Crash (immediate)

I am able to drag and drop the image from excel to powerpoint and/or word. We tried recreating a basic pie-chart from simple data and the result was the same. The issue is NOT specific to her user profile.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. She is a heavy user, certainly a power-user of excel and powerpoint. I've trained all of my mac users NOT to drag and drop into powerpoint as we all know what happens when you go to play the ppt on a PC having done that ;-)

Hi,

Try using Edit > Paste Special and see if that works.

Hi Jim. Unfortunately the crash is immediate upon copying. The opportunity to paste, or paste special isn't there as the application crashes on command+c .

I did isolate last night that this ONLY applies to the most basic version of Pie. Even the other sub-options under pie are fine, 3d, etc..just pie. All other charting functions are fine, and it only occurs on spreadsheets created in 2008. Opening old sheets with such graphs have no problem. It is really quite bizarre.
