Excel Freezes when I try to open it.

I have Windows ME and Office 2000. When I try to open
Excel while I am Logged onto our network my computer will
lock up, nothing works, I have to power off and restart.
none of this happens if I am not logged on to the network.
the last time this happened there was an ERROR message
Error:OE:018F:BFF8E64B. I have not installed or
uninstalled any programs, I have run Norton Virus Scan.
Have any Ideas ?
