Excel link to percent complete?

Gueuze

I'm trying to link a cell from an embedded Excel object in a Word Doc to a
Project 2000 file. I don't have any problem linking dates -- just copy cell,
go to Project, Paste Special... > Link, Text.

My problem is I don't have a place to Paste Special... > Link, Text to
update a percent complete for a task.

As far as I can tell, there are only a few ways to enter percentage
complete, and none of them are in the grid view (sounds like that would be an
obvious one to me...).

Any help?

Thanks.

John,

Where are you finding the percentage complete field? I have only found it in
3 locations so far:

1. The General tab of the Summary Task Information dialog
2. Tools > Tracking > Update Tasks...
3. Tracking Toolbar

If I try to Paste, there is no Paste Link in the methods above.

Thanks for your help.

Gueuze,
You should be able to simply Paste Link the information into the
%Complete field. I tried it from an Excel Worksheet to a Project Task
and the link updated the % Complete value without a problem. But, I
didn't try if from an embedded Excel object.

Normally we don't recommend using Paste Links simply because they are
not very stable and can easily become corrupt if extreme care is not
used in maintaining them.

Gueuze,
The "% Complete" field can be shown in any Task view (e.g. Gantt Chart).
If it isn't already showing as a column in the view, right click to
insert a column. Then pick the first entry in the Field Name selection
list - it is "% Complete".
