Excel opens in Word

I have a client machine that has excel docs trying to open in Word. I've
searched the forum and only found one occurence of the same problem.
Unfortunately the response is not very good. Basically it tells to check the
file extension. File extension is not the problem here. Client is using
Winxp sp2; office 2003 pro.

Any advice is appriciated.

Go to Start > Run and type: Control Folders , and hit enter.
Click on File Types, scroll down to the XLS extension and change
the file association to open with Microsoft Office Excel.
