Here's what you need to know:
1. When you create a cross-project dependency between tasks in two
different projects, the external task dependency is saved in each project.
The external task is shown by default as a "ghost task" and appears with
both gray text and a gray Gantt bar in the Gantt Chart view of either
project. Therefore, in the Text Styles dialog, you will see the Text
formatting for an external task is gray.
2. When you apply a Filter using the Highlight option (Project - Filtered
for - More Filters), tasks that meet the filter criteria are highlighted by
default with blue text. Therefore, in the Text Styles dialog, you will see
the Text formatting for a Highlighted task is blue.
3. Microsoft Project includes a default text field called Marked, which
allows the user to select certain tasks in the project and "mark" them for
custom formatting. In the in the Text Styles dialog, you will see the Text
formatting for a Marked task is black, and you should select another color
to indicate marked tasks. You then need to insert the Marked column in any
task view, such as the Gantt Chart view, and then select Yes for any tasks
you want highlighted with the Marked text color. In addition, you can also
add an extra line of information in the Bar Styles dialog to define the
shape an color of the Gantt bar that is displayed for marked tasks (Format -
Bar Styles).
Hope this helps.
