Feature Request: Dynamic Tooltips

P

Patrick

Hi Greg,

I think this is great functionality to add. When there
are two different views such as the query and the data
entry view, it would be great if we can place the queried
value as the title of the data entry page .. i currently
get away with it by placing it as a hyperlink

regards,
Patrick

Dear Microsoft InfoPath Team:

I was just thinking about how there have been many times
where I needed to be able to programmatically populate the
title attribute (i.e. tooltip), but there's no way to do
it.
It would be great if in the properties dialog for the
various controls, we were able to use XPath expressions in
the title field which would then be used in the XSL to
dynamically populate the title attribute in the HTML. It
doesn't seem to far of a stretch to see this happening.
Uses for this feature:

* Fields that are not intended to wrap, and are too short
for the contents, the title attribute could be populated
with the contents of the field so that on mouse over one
can see the entire contents.
* Title attribute bound to a secondary data source which
would allow for programmatic updates of the attribute
contents. Script could change the value of the bound node
in the secondary data source which would then update the
tooltip.
There are others, but I won't spend time explaining them now.

I would personally find it very useful.
