file saved write protected won't open read only

I have created a project file with resources only in order to use it as a
pool for several projects that will share resources from this file. I saved
it with write protection. Now it will not open read-only for anyone, not
even me.

I have tried this several times with the same results.

Is this a 2007 bug? I did this with 2000 and did not have this problem.

Thanks, Kate

Hi Kate,

There have been several reports of problems surrounding password
protected files in Project 2007. It appears to be a bug. For the time
being I would not password protect files.

However, in order to use the resource pool file effectively, project
managers do need the ability to write to a pool file. You should not
have to password protect the file. When the project managers open the
pool, they should see a dialog box giving three choices
1) Open the pool read-only allowing others to work in the pool ....
2) Open the pool read-write.....
3) Open the pool read-write and all other sharer files....

Project managers should open the pool with the first (default) option
selected.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
