File Size

Is there a size limit for presentations? (I am using ppt
2000.) My slide show is mostly jpeg photos and it is now
at 20 MB and I have more to add. Just wondering if I am
going to run into trouble.

Couple of thoughts:

1. Limited in size to your computer's ability to handle it (video, ram,
etc.)
2. How are you putting in your JPGs into your presentation? Might be able
to minimize file size!
3. Click "Tools", "Options", click the "Save" TAB and uncheck "Allow fast
saves". Resave and see if file size drops.
4. Click "File", "Properties", uncheck "Save preview picture" at the bottom
left. Resave and check it out again.

Holler back with your steps used in #2 above. Hopefully the others will
help your file size.

It is all based on the power capabilities of the machine your viewing your
presentation on. You might want to have a look at this great tutorial on
optimizing your images in PowerPoint

Eventually, you could experience problems. Another alternative is to make
smaller presentations and link them together for a seamless slide show. Hence
another tutorial <g> http://www.powerpointbackgrounds.com/powerpointlinking.htm

20 mb is not uncommon. I have seen files larger than 100mb (although rare). Large files take longer to load, but a reasonably fast machine with lots of RAM and good video card should handle it just fine.
