Sorry if in wrong group, but I am desperate to view previously opened files
in excel, which I had ....but not now!!.......It was on the File menu on the
Menu bar.

Goto Tools --> Options --> General Tab. If Office XP is not too
different from Office 2K, then you'll find a option called "Recently
Used File List". Take a look if this option is cleared, if so, check
the option and you'll get the recent file list in the "File"-menu of
the menubar.
