Finish Date does not change

In one particular schedule made by me, Calculation options for master
all radio buttens are clicked as I want the unscheduled work to be
scheduled forward from status date. Also calculation mode is clicked as
Automatic.
Still when I change % completion from 0% to any other %, the
start/finish dates are not changing, which was happening yesterday in
the same file.
What should I do ?
Please note that for the other files on the same client, the dates are
changing with the same options.
please help

3326ubb,
It isn't real clear what you mean by, "... calculation option for master
all ratio buttens are clicked...", but you might want to take a look at
the Actual Start field. It is possible to have an entry in that field
and still have the % Complete field showing "0%". And with an entry in
the Actual Start field, the task will be "locked" from moving.

Thanks Mr. John,
I will clarify further.
The file name is master. In tools..option..calculation, Calculatio
mode is automatic & I have ticked all four options, viz.
- Updating task status ....
- Move end of completed ...
- and move start of remaining ...
- Move start of remaining ...
- and move end of completed ...
Because I want the finish date to move forward from today's status dat
by the amount of remaining duration.
This was happening earlier when I created the file.
Now it is not happening.
Actual start date of all activities is NA as I have not updated an
activity as of now.
I want start & finish date to change when I change '%complete' field.

Hope I am clear now & you will be in position to answer my query
Thanks in advance.

3326ubb,
I'll admit I'm not very familiar with calculation options available with
Project 2003 but playing around with it a little bit, this is what I
found. Fixed Duration tasks will not re-schedule even though the
re-scheduling calculation options are checked. Fixed Unit or Fixed Work
tasks will re-schedule. I'm not sure why it works that way, but it does
- I'd have to do some more research to find an explanation. Meanwhile, I
suggest you check the task type.

Of course another possibility is that the status date is such that the
tasks don't need to re-schedule, but I assume you already checked that.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mr. John.
Status date, I had checked already.
But even with changing task type to fixed units/work, dates are no
changing.
Meanwhile I copied all tasks & pasted in new file, I am facing the sam
problem. Then I started another new file with all same options in th
same window & started putting the same tasks individually, it worke
properly.

So, as of now, I continued the work with new created file as data wa
very less.
Thanks again for your valuable time. I will come back if I resolve th
same.

3326ubb,
Interesting. When I did my testing, a newly created file worked as
expected (i.e. dates moved in response to the status date and entry of %
complete). When I tried the same thing on an existing file, the tasks
did not re-schedule (just like you experienced). However the task types
in the existing file were all Fixed Duration. Changing them to one of
the other task types solved the problem.

At this point my only guess is that perhaps your original file had some
corruption. Although it looks like you worked around the problem, if you
still have the old original file, you might like to go to our MVP
website at: http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm
and take a look at FAQ 43 - File Bloat? Might be corruption

Hope this helps.
