Fixed Duration and Resource Calendars

I have a fixed duration task with a resource assigned to it. In the resource
calendar I have marked individual non-working time.

When I allocate the resource to the task, sometimes Project schedules the
task and ignores the resource holiday, which results in the task taking place
on a day when the resource is not available.

At other times, Project displays a message indicating that it is going to
increase the task duration. It then extends the task to include a date when
the resource is available.

What controls which route Project takes? How do I control this?

Hi Mary-Ann,

It will nevers chedule the resource's asignment through its nonworking time.
Another resource working on the task may be scheduled that day but never the
resoruce that is nonworking.
