Footers

Hi

I'm trying to edit a document at the moment and I want to
insert a different footer on each page. I've tried
deselecting same as previous but it's still not working
for me. Can someone please tell me where I'm going wrong
and how can I fix the problem?

Thanks a million

Hi SMC,

Footers are organized by Section, so Same as Previous refers to same as
previous Section, not page. You can do different First Page and Odd/Even
footers in each section, but to literally have a different footer on each
page, you may need each page to start with a Section Break (unless you have
a 3-page doc).

On the other hand, if your footer is the same as a title or other heading in
your document, you can insert a field that picks up the text of the nearest
heading. For instance, say each page of your doc starts with a title
formatted as Heading 1. In the footer, you insert a StyleRef field set to
pick up Heading 1, and the footer reproduces the text of the title. Help
should tell you more about StyleRef fields, if this sounds like what you
want.

SMC,
i agree with the response about the section breaks, but i
dunno too mch about the fields and that other stuff.
however, try just using the section breaks at the top of
each page and insert footers on each page, it should allow
the footers to be different, since the each page is a part
of its own section, u know?
i'm wondering, why would the footers need to be different
in the same document?
