Footnotes text disappears

When doing footnotes sometimes the text in the footnote disappears and
editing the footnote becomes a problem. I have to add another footnote then
undo in order to get the whole text of the footnote back on. Is this a bug
or is there something that turns this feature on and off. I would like my
footnotes to remain completely visible and not have half of the footnote
disappear from view. And when it disappears it is not on the following page
even though the separator says it is a continuation.

This sounds like a display issue. Make sure your video driver is up to date.
Note also that you can switch to Normal/Draft view and view the footnotes in
the Footnote pane, which is less resource-intensive.
