form in table or table in form?

Does it matter if you put a form inside a table or should the form contain the table - or does it really
matter?

I've never had more than one form on a page so always had the form tags on the outside of any tables. Now I
have the need for more than one form and I have multiple tables on my page.

Is there a rule of thumb here?

Putting the table in the form is way easier than putting the form in the
table since if you elect to do the latter, you must put it all into a single
table cell (forms do not span table cells).
