Format of Name in Inbox

Bill Wesson

I have Outlook 2000. Why do some messages in my inbox show
the "From" field as "Joe Blow", some "jblow" and some as
"(e-mail address removed)"? Is there some setting to cause the format
of the "From" field to be displayed a certain way? Or is
it displayed based on some setting in the sender's email
system?

Thanks.

What do I specify in Outlook to make my name appear as "Joe
Blow" instead of "(e-mail address removed)" in someone else's inbox?

Thanks.

It depends on how you are using Outlook. There are 2
modes: Corporate and Internet Only. In either case, you
have to change your display name.

Corporate:

1. Click Tools -> Services
2. Choose your Internet Email Service from the window
that appears and click the properties button.
3. Change your display name on the General Tab of the new
window. Click Apply & OK and then close the other
window.
4. Restart Outlook.

Internet Only:

1. Click Tools -> Accounts
2. Click the Mail tab in the resulting window.
3. Highlight your email account and click the Properties
button.
4. Change your Display name on the General tab. Click
apply & OK and then close the other window.
5. Restart Outlook.

Thanks,

Erik

Thank you very much. I have been looking for that
specification for some time and couldn't find it.

Thanks.
