Formatting Pallet Microsoft Word X for Mac on 10.5.1

LexiC

I am using templates I previously created in Word X on an older computer and with System 10.4+ which have worked flawlessly for years. I have just started to notice that when I utilize the Formatting pallet and go back in to type something in a formatted text block, the font changes to Times automatically both on the word I have clicked on and for any new text I type. What can I do to stop this from happening???

P.S. I am also running Font Agent Pro. Could that have anything to do with it?

Thanks!

Hi Lexi:

I "doubt" that this one is due to Font Agent Pro. I suppose it is plausible
that you may have disabled the required font, causing Word to then
substitute the next closest available font. But I think you would know if
you did that.

It's more likely that at some point you switched keyboards. Word has a bug
in it that changes the "language" and "Font" in use when you switch
keyboards.

When you formatted the contents of those text blocks, how did you apply the
formatting?

The best thing to do is to ensure that you have applied all formatting using
Styles. Formatting that is directly-applied is a flaky beast: difficult to
get right, and even more difficult to keep right.

A style is simply a collection of formatting properties that you assign a
name to. For example: "Comment Box Text".

If you apply the style to the block: it will not only hold its formatting
much more reliably, it will also make it a one-click job to change that kind
of paragraph formatting throughout the whole document.

Hope this helps
