Formulas in Protected Forms

I just began running XP Pro - Office Pro 2003 - I have an old form that is coded and pulled through an Access Database program called System 1. Prior to today I had an AUTOSUM formula at the bottom of this form - this form is Protected so that all I have to do is complete the needed fields. All the other information pulls through this System 1 program. This is the first time I am using it since I switched to this new Office Pro 2003. What am I doing wrong? why won't my formula add? I have tried to press the update and adjust my setting to update on print/save but I am just at a loss.

Make sure you have "Calculate on exit" checked in the Form Field Options of
each form field that contributes to the sum.
