Generic Team Resource Capacity

Is there any way to adjust the capacity for generic team resources? I know
that when the named resources that belong to the team assign themselves then
we can adjust their individual calendars, but what about setting capacity for
the team prior to self-assignement? It seems that adjusting resource
availability for the generic team has no effect of availability. When
viewing their availability there is no capacity line generated.

Hi Moroni,

Generally a generic resource's capacity is treated the same way then a named
resource. If your generic resource does not have a capacity line, then it has
differnent reasons.
What version of Projct Server do you use?

Thanks Marc. I am using PS 2007 sp1. I am glad you verified my assumption
that Team Resources should has capacity. I will look deeper into this.

I discovered that when I set the Team Assignment Pool to Yes for a generic
resource the capacity line goes to zero. Is this a bug / limited
functionality or is there something I have yet to understand.

Hi Moroni,

no that actually makes sense I believe. The generic resource that you have
created and set as the team assingment resource is nothing else but a
"placeholder" for the entire team. Project Server knows that and therefore
does not create a capacity for this resource since it is a generic team
resource.

I am sure that you dont experience this behaviour on a generic resource that
is not part of a team.

Let me know if htis makes sense to you .
Thanks

Marc,

It seems inherent of us Project Management consultants that once we get th
logic in our head we are comfortable. i agree with your logic.

Thanks so much,
