Get SQL server data into a Word doc

Hi,

I've set up a Word template that I'd like to populate with data from
an SQL database for a specific record. I've tried using the mailmerge
function and that works for just one time, the database and tables
need manually relinked everytime the template is open.

How do I open a SQL table and query the data then insert into the document?

Ideally my users should just open the template, automatically link to
the SQL server then the user enters the search word and filter the
record to insert into the document.

Any advice is welcomed.
