getting error while opening word/excel 2000

hi,
1.whenever i open any excel/word files in my system i am getting a a
error "the file is already open,do u want to make a copy or the file i
being used by 'current profile name' say dabance.. can anyone pleas
suggest any solution. My machine is Win2k and using offic 2k.
2. What is the default tempelate for excel. for word it is Normal.dot.
