Graffic converters

Hi i have scanned in some photos using canon D1250u2f
scanner and have saved them as jpeg. When i am in
publisher and use the insert picture from file it tells
me,
Publisher cannot convert this picture. This is because
either publisher does not recognise the format, or there
was an error loading the graffic converter. So on and so
on..... I have reloaded all graffics filters and am still
unable to insert this picture into publisher. Any ideas
whats going wrong? I have downloaded the latest drivers
for the scanner but do not want to spend hours downloading
all the office updates. Is there a specific driver file i
need. I have searche through the Microsoft office website
and have not found anything. Please help
Thanks...... Tracey

Tracey that is an excellent scanner you have there.

What the issue is, is that you have scanned the images at to high a
resolution.

Depending on what type of printing you are you going to do, you only need
150dpi for an inkjet printer or 300dpi for a laser or offset printing.
If you only need the picture 65% of the size of the original, scan it at the
time 65% of the size.

Publisher will not handle image/graphic (not graffic) files larger than 16Mb
UN-compressed.

A say 750k JPG image can be UN-compressed can easily be 16Mb uncompressed.

If you download the *excellent* freeware Irfanview, if you use button 'I' it
will show you the UN-compressed JPG file size.
