Could not duplicate with Pub2007 to Acrobat 8...or with Pub's PDF add-in
thingie.
Insert Color Pix > Format Picture > Recolor (with black)...produces a black
& white PDF.

|I can only guess it is a bug. I can also surmise it is an Acrobat bug. I
don't
| have Acrobat 8 so I can't duplicate your issue. I can print to 7 okay and
the
| filled autoshape remains gray scale.

| Have you tried inserting the image in a one cell table? Will it remain as
gray
