grayscale autoshape changes to color when converting to PDF

When converting from Microsoft Publisher 2007 to Adobe Acrobat 8.0 PDF, the
autoshape picture that we changed to grayscale changes back to color when
reviewing the created PDF.

Are you setting Acrobat to print in black and white? Select the PDF printer,
properties, paper/quality tab.

Let's see if I can explain the problem better. We design newspaper ads in
Publisher using an autoshape box to insert the property picture, then make
the color picture greyscale for publishing. Since using a new computer with
Microsoft Office 2007 and Acrobat version 8, when we convert the ad to a PDF
file, the picture reverts back to color making the ad not usable. This only
happens with the new computer. The older computer that used Office 2003 and
Acrobat 6 or 7 leaves the autoshape picture as grayscale. But if we take a
color picture and do not use the autoshape feature in Publisher the picture
will also remain grayscale. Thanks!

I can only guess it is a bug. I can also surmise it is an Acrobat bug. I don't
have Acrobat 8 so I can't duplicate your issue. I can print to 7 okay and the
filled autoshape remains gray scale.

Have you tried inserting the image in a one cell table? Will it remain as gray
scale?

I have created a Business card in Publisher and want to fade one side of a
picture that I inserted into the card. How do I do that???

What sort of image is it? You could copy the picture, paste, align the two
pictures one on top the other, crop the top picture and use the wash-out option
from the picture toolbar. If the picture is a vector, you can ungroup and use
the transparency in the fill menu.

Could not duplicate with Pub2007 to Acrobat 8...or with Pub's PDF add-in
thingie.
Insert Color Pix > Format Picture > Recolor (with black)...produces a black
& white PDF.
