Grayscale in CMYK

I have come to a dead end here and need any help i can get.

I have a puclication that uses only 2 CMYK colors (magenda and black). If I
check commercial printing options then these 2 colors aprear in use and
yellow and cyan not in use. All good so far.

Now if i insert a grayscale image to the publication I chack commercial
printing options in the publication and all 4 colors apear to be in use!! why
is this happening??

Because Publisher only supports the importion of RGB images, and the
imperfection of the RGB > CMYK conversion.

Try recolouring the picture (in Publisher) as C 0 M 0 Y 0 K 100.

Right-click an image, click format picture, picture tab, recolor, more colors,
custom, select cmyk in the pull down.

You could probably write a script to do it. I don't have access to
Publisher at the moment, or I'd check.

whenever you get around to do that i'd love to see the script... i did them 1
by 1 for now but it will save me time in the future...
