Having Data Automatically Appear

Is it possible through any means to achieve the following in excel. I need for names of pieces of equipment to be stored in either a database or spreadsheet that I can then link to and have appear as I type in an invoice. For instance, as I start to enter a piece of kit in a certain column and type the letter RE, every piece of equipment I have entered in the previous database beginning with RE will appear as a drop down suggestion so I can avoid manually typing out the entire name every time. If, when chosen, the price will also appear with it in a separate column that would be great too. If this is not something possible with excel what program am I looking for?

You can't get that functionality in XL08. You can get close using
UserForms in XL04 (and, presumably, the next version of MacXL).

You can do something similar with multiple cells by creating dependent
lists:

The price is easy - just create a table of equipment and prices, and use
VLOOKUP() function to match the equipment and return it's corresponding
price.
