Headers and margins on 2nd page

I have a document with a header on page one and not on the following page.

The problem is, the margins are still set on the following pages to allow
for the header. Even though it's not there.

When I try to change the margins on page two, it changes them for the entire
document, therefor putting the margin on page one inside the header.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

If you want a different header on page 2, you'll need to put in section
break before page 2. When you edit the header for section 2, make sure
that the "Link to Previous" is deselected or your header for section 2 will
be identical to your header for section 1.

I'm actually wanting to only have a header on the first page and no header
after that.
Where is this "Link to Previous" option at? Somewhere in page setup?

Actually, let me better explain so you might be able to help me.

I have a word document (template ".dot")
The header is on page one. If I type enough to make it to page 2, I do not
want the margins to carry over. Nor the header.

With your previous advice, I'm able to do all of this, but this envolves the
blank page two being saved with the inital document (template).

If you are interested in creating templates that will work with the letter
wizard or use that wizard, you should look at the chapter on Advanced
Document Formatting in Using Office 2003 (or whatever your version is),
Special Edition, by Ed Bott and Woody Leonhard. It has detailed instructions
including instructions on getting the fields you want from your Outlook
Contacts for addressing a letter. (Chapter 19 of SE Using Office 2003) You
should be able to get this through your public library or at Amazon.com

Finally, take a look at the letter templates that come with Word. While they
are no great shakes as letterhead, they do use styles and AutoText lists
very well. If you use the same style names that are used in those templates
in your own letterhead for the same parts of the document, you will have
better luck with using the built-in AutoText entries in Word.

No, what is needed is section formatting of different first page. See my
other post. A section break is seldom (if ever) the solution to this
problem.
