HELP - duplicate text boxes

When creating text boxes (insert new text box from drawing toolbar each
time), I find that when I type or make any changes to one, it duplicates the
typing/changes in the next. What could be causing this? I have researched
this endlessly but turned up nothing.

This has frequently been reported, but I have never seen an explanation or
solution. When it happened to me, I thought it was because I'd copied a text
box or used Ctrl+D to duplicate it, but if you're creating each one from
scratch, that's obviously not the explanation. Possibly some corruption in
