I currently have the XP Firewall activated and am running Outlook 2002 and
MSN Messenger 7.0. I noticed in the firewall exceptions that Outlook is not
checked as an exception, although Messenger 7, Console and other items are.
I am using ICS to share a dial up internet connection between 2 PC's that
are connected thru wired Ethernet.
I am getting my email OK. Also have a subscription to Hotmail Plus so I can
read my hotmail account in Outlook, which also works. Recently I tried to
sign out of passport and was unable to do so. I can sign out of all the
other services, but it will not sign out of passport.
Does this have something to do with using ICS or so I possibly have a
problem with my passport or hotmail account or do I need to reinstall ICS?
When I setup my hotmail account in Outlook, it was automatically setup by
Outlook to connect thru LAN instead of dialup--so I changed it to dialup as
I did with my POP3 account from my local ISP. I contacted Microsoft
Messenger support about this since I have paid subscription to hotmail
account and they told me to contact Outlook support which I no longer have
free support on.
Could someone explain how the hotmail account is suppose to be setup in
Outlook 2002 so I know if changing the connection type to dialup was a
mistake or not?
