Hiding tasks

I'd like to send my customers a simplified chart of a project. There are
100 tasks and I want to limit what I sent out to about 25 tasks the customer
can relate to.
I don't know what export method I want - something customer friendly.

What are some easy ways of doing this?

The way I'd do it is to insert the "Marked" field onto the Gant Chart
view (which I assume is the view you wish to send to the customer). For
all the tasks you wish to show to the customer, show "Marked" as "Yes",
and "No" for those you wish to hide. Create a new filter (I would name
it "Marked") that displays only those tasks that Marked="Yes". Apply
that filter.

Then do whatever you want to create the think you send to customer
: Print to paper and post
: "Print" to Adobe PDF (with a PDF maker) and send via email (you need
3rd party software to do this).
: Use the camera icon to take a "picture" of the Gantt chart. Send that
picture, or copy/paste that picture into, say, a Word document. In that
Word document write some elaboration about what the chart means.

I like the last best. I don't ever send project information to the
customer without elaboration/explanation.

Ideas:

Use a flag field

Thanks for the reply.
I'm a novice and I've never worked with fields. Do I select a task, then go
to Tools, customize, fields? Then select Flag? What's next?
And are these fields all empty and I won't be messing anything up?

Fields are "columns". They are a "property" of a task. (Their are also
fields associated with resources and assignments.) There are all kinds
of them. By default, you see the properties of task like "Name",
"Duration", "Start", "Finish". To see more fields, right mouse click on
a column and pick "Insert Column". Hover the mouse over the field name
to see a link to "help" which explains the field, its purpose, how used,
if computed how computed, etc. All the fields are documented in "help".
I recommend you read more about it there.

I was not suggesting using the Flag field. I was suggesting using the
field called "Marked".

And yes, if you put in the wrong information, yuou can indeed mess
things up. But the tool is there to be used, so use it. Experiment.
Read about it. Perhaps buy a good book about Project to learn more.
