How do I perform usage tracking such that I can know who has used that
particular file (may be MS Word document, MS Excel file, etc.)

Thanks a lot

It totally depends on your environment, which you failed to detail.

For instance, If I have a MS Word document which is shared among my
colleagues, I want to keep track who has accessed this document. How can I do
that? (given that I haven't got any Document Management System)

Sorry for not giving enough information in the previous message.

Thanks a lot.

Looking over their shoulder is the only sure way, with what you
provided. The environment Milly mentioned would be the network setup,
server operating system and file location. Also, what "accessed" means
to you, "edited"? Opened for reading? copied?
