How can I check for a word or phrase in a group of documents?

In Adobe, I can check for a particular word or phrase in an entire file. It
then provides a list of all documents with that word or phrase. Is there a
way to do this with a group of Word documents in a file?

Group of Word documents in a "file"? If you actually meant "FOLDER" and
not "FILE" try "Agent Ransack" or "Copernic Desktop Search". See
