How can I edit a previous publisher doc in 2003 version

When opening a Publisher doc created in a prior version (don't know which) I
cannot edit the document. I downloaded the add on to keep placed graphics in
their original version.

What needs to be changed?

Are you using a full version of Publisher as opposed to an expired version
of the trial version?

Yes, turns out the problem was a embeded font listed as "display only".
Turned that one off and all was well.
