How can I make Microsoft Word XP default instead of Word 2000?

I recently wiped my hard drive out. When I reinstalled everything, I could
not remember how I had made Word XP default. I also have Microsoft Works
with Windows 2000 installed. And I can't remember how I solved this problem
the last time. Can anyone help me.
