Are you talking about a timed delay between slides?
That is available, but you may want to post in the
Powerpoint newsgroup (link below) and include both
the version of Powerpoint you're using and the
specific result you'd like to have.

my assistant has managed to put arrows to go back and forth in the
presentation but insists there is no way to pause it or stop it for a while
