"how do I change the read only setting for an MPP file?

I keep getting messages that I am unable to replace an existing MPP file
because it is read only, but the properties do nto show this. How do I get
around this?

Apparently whoever created the file set it for "read only recommended".
This setting will not show up under File/Properties/General tab. Try
this. First open the file and then go to File/Save As. In the upper
right corner of the Save As window you will see a "Tools" icon. Click
that and select General Options. Uncheck the "Read-only recommended
option and hit "OK". Then save the file under a new name or use the same
old name.
