How do I copy text from PowerPoint to Live Messenger?

Not sure if this is a Messenger thing, but when I select text to copy from a
PowerPoint file, and paste it in a Live Messenger conversation, I send a
screenshot of the selected text instead. The only work around is by using a
3rd application, ie. copy, paste to Notepad, copy again, paste to Messenger.
Any practical solutions?
