How do I get Office 2000 to work on XP?

I have a copy of MS Office 2000 which I have on my PC, which is running
Windows XP.

Applications such as slideshows on Powerpoint appear to work fine. The
problem I have is that I cannot access any MS Word documents emailed to me.
In trying to access any Word document, I just get a blank screen in MS Word,
with no document at all.

What do I need to do to resolve this?

Have you run Detect and Repair? Under any Office program, see Help->Detect
and Repair, you can opt to have it reinstall shortcuts or just repair your
programs.

I would do a full uninstall of Office, reboot, then reinstall.
I have your configuration with no such problem.
