I am trying to create a monogram. I want to conver letters into graphics so
I can use the order feature on the drawing bar. Is it possible to do this?
Is there some alteernative way to layer text over text?

I am using Word 2003.

You can insert each individual letter in its own text box or use WordArt
objects.

I did triy putting each letter in a text box. But when I put one text box on
top of the other, I couldn't see the letter in the bottom box at all. I'm
sure there is another step that I am not taking. I would appreciate any help
you could provide on what that next step is.

On the Colors and Lines tab of Format Text Box, set the Fill Color to No
Fill (and of course the Line Color to No Line).

(Sorry if this appears twice: the web interface ate my post)

You can use the character spacing tab on "Format > Font", too:
Select the first letter and format it condensed, then select the second
letter and lower the position.

An ADVANCE field between the two letters would likely do the trick, too.

In my old Word2000 installation, overlapping text often wouldn't appear
correctly on screen, but printed fine.
In Word2003, the screen display is fine, too -- It might depend on the
printer driver (PostScript in my case).

Klaus
