How do I make my publication my background on the computer?

I made a collection of pictures in a collage form and wanted to use it as a
background on computer, how do I save it in a picture form so the control
panel will recognize it?

File - Save As - change the file type to a .jpg

Tried that, it saves it as jpg.pub and then when I open it back up it just
shows a blank page.

If you change the file type to .jpg, it won't end in .pub.

Don't just add .jpg to the file name...
the .extension must be .jpg.

Go to...File / Save As...

Open the "Save As Type" drop window and select:
"JPEG File Interchange Format (*,jpg)" and then
click the "Save * button.

I did go to save as, I scrolled down and it does not give me the option to
save as jpg, only .pub, when I changed it to .jpg, it automatically added the
..pub after it.

No...you do not have to type the .jpg extension...
the program will add that extension after you
select JPEG from the list.

You stated that you have the 2003 version of
Publisher...if that is correct...you definitely have
the option to save as JPEG....

Maybe you did not scroll down far enough after
you opened the "Save As Type" drop window.

Use the scroll buttons on the list. JPEG should appear a little further
down. Changing the extension in the filename text box will not change
the filetype, you have to select the right format from the drop-down.

I did scroll all the way down and there is not an option, yes I have the 2003
version. I know this is weird, that is why I am stumped.

It should appear in between "GIF Graphics Interchange Format" and "Tag
Image File Format", near the bottom of the list.

Failing that, you could always use PNG. It would create a larger file,
but it would also avoid compression artifacts.

Sorry...I don't have a solution...

Maybe someone else will have the answer...

Just a thought...with your project open in
Publisher....maybe you could go to...

Edit / Select all...

Edit / Copy...

Open MS Paint...

Edit / Paste

File / Save As / Jpeg.
