How do I open a word 2007 document in word 2003?

Michelle

I have word 2003 on my desktop and 2007 on my laptop. I would like to take
information from the word 2007 and open it on my desktop in word 2003.

You need to do one (or a combination) of two things:

On your laptop, save your files in Word 97-2003 (.doc) format, or

Install the Compatibility Pack on your desktop system which you can download
from here (click link #1):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Search.aspx?displaylang=en

Either way, keep in mind that 2003 doesn't support many of the features in
2007, so converting back & forth may still not give you the results you'd
like to have. As long as you intend to work back & forth between the 2
versions I set Word 2007's default format to be compatible with earlier
versions [IOW, not save in .docx in the first place].

Hi,

I have the same problem as Michelle, though I need to be able to save files
in 2007 as older versions e.g. ".doc". However, when I select this option and
save it as ".doc"and then try to email the file to a third party, or to my
desktop, the attachment continues to read ".docx", and the recipient cannot
open it.

All suggestions welcome!!

Thanks

Save it as Word 97-2003 format and then attach the saved file to your
e-mail.
